Local Area

Once a sleepy fishing village, situated roughly half-way between Albufeira and Portimao, Carvoeiro has become a bustling resort which has retained great charm and is now one of the most popular family destinations in the Algarve. The village itself is small but it offers a wealth of restaurants and shops. The coastline is particularly beautiful with many long sandy beaches and secluded coves, some of which can only be reached by boat. Water sports are plentiful.

Nearby attractions for families include Zoomarine Sealife park at Guia and Krazy World at Algoz, plus two water parks within a short drive: Slide and Splash at Lagoa, and Aqualand just slightly further away at Alcantarilha.

15 minutes to the North, Silves provides a lovely day out, with its Moorish castle and riverside walks, and for those who like to explore on foot, the cliff tops around Carvoeiro offer plenty of scope for walking with some wonderful views.

The Algarve is one of the most highly regarded golfing destinations in the world with a vast choice of 36 courses catering for golfers of all levels – the nearby nine-hole Vale Do Milho course is the closest and, just a short drive away, are the 18-hole courses of Pestana Gramacho and Pestana Vale da Pinta.

If it’s shopping you prefer, Portimão to the west of Carvoeiro, or Algarve Shopping Mall at Guia (near Albufeira) to the east, offer a very good opportunity for some retail therapy!

Alternatively, make Quinta do Rosal your holiday base and tour the Algarve! Cape St. Vincent (Europe’s most south-westerly point) is an hour’s drive west, the Spanish border an hour east. Lisbon, the Capital of Portugal, is only 2 ½ hours’ drive north along the new motor way.
